Although the race season was in hibernation over the winter months, Astrid and her crew have been hard at work preparing for 2018. This new season brings about new exciting changes for Astrid’s racing career. While at the end of the 2017 season, Astrid and her team where able to give the E36 BMW a few shake downs at Pocono and NJMP, they knew a lot of work lied ahead to get both the car and the driver up to competition speeds.
Over the winter, Astrid, her father and mother all spent countless hours stripping out the interior of the E36. All of the interior panels, seats, stereo, dashboard etc where removed. Safety equipment such as a full SCCA spec cage, halo MOMO seats, harnesses, fire suppression where installed. An upgraded suspension and sway bars where also added to get Astrid and her BMW off on the right foot for 2018.
A few minor things are left to finish on the BMW before she’s ready to race once again. An addition of a rear wing and front splitter are yet to be added to the ALR machine. Once complete, Astrid and the crew are aiming to attend a test day at Monticello before her first event at Lime Rock in the spring.
